World Flag Studies

abstract and examine every country's flag

+

Showing Jan 4 - Feb 15, 2014 at ACA's alt_space at 123 Douglas Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Each piece in this show represents a system created to study and visualize elements from every country's flag. By looking at these common elements, images are created that explore the global connections in how flags use color, symbols, stripes, shapes, and other visuals. For example, 286 Stars of the World collects and displays every star that appears on a flag, illustrating that the many ways to depict a star can represent the diversity of nations and their people.

Each piece is a digitally printed 3' x 5' Dacron flag. Special thanks goes to Atlantic Center for the Arts for the opportunity to show my work here, and to Northstar Flags for all of their help in printing the work seen in this show.
